Tax cuts implemented during the Obama-Trump era appear to have stimulated economic growth without triggering inflation, according to @AlanBlinder in the Wall Street Journal.

"...Readers of these pages know that I’ve been critical of the president. But it must be said that his economic policies have been the shining stars in a dismal policy firmament. Like most liberal economists, I did not like the way he structured his tax cuts. And like many economists of all stripes, I thought the tax cuts might overheat an already-hot economy. But the latter worry appears to have been wrong, at least so far. The tax cuts seem to have boosted growth without exciting inflation.Thanks to the government shutdown, fourth-quarter numbers haven’t been released, but the available data for 2018 show a surge in business investment in the quarter immediately following the tax cut and a strong overall investment level for the year. The slowdown toward the end of the year, however, bears watching...."
